Richard H. Buckingham is Emeritus C.N.R.S. Director of Research at the Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique, Paris. A graduate of Cambridge University, he did his doctoral studies at the Biochemistry Department, University of Oxford, and two years later moved to France to continue research. His research interests are centered on microorganisms and include the mechanisms of protein synthesis termination and ribosome recycling. He is a member of EMBO. In the realm of scientific publication, he currently serves on the FEBS Publications Committee and is chief editor of Biochimie, published by Elsevier-Masson.
