Dr. Judith Kamalski
Dr Kamalski is a Publishing Information Manager in Elsevier’s Research and Academic Relations department. Making use of citation information, Judith gives advice to journal publishers and editors on how to improve their journal, or to sales staff on characteristics of the university they are about to visit. Her particular interest lies in the use (and abuse) of the Impact Factor and the emergence of alternative metrics for journal evaluation, such as SJR and SNIP. Judith regularly presents on these topics, among others, to journal editors, learned and scholarly societies, and the publishing community. Judith is also a member of the editorial board of Research Trends – Elsevier’s biliometrics e-mail newsletter.
Judith holds two Master’s Degrees, one in Corporate Communication and one in French Literature (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen and Sorbonne, Paris IV). Her PhD research focused on the role of language in persuasion (Utrecht University and Florida State University). Judith joined Elsevier in 2007, rotating as a management trainee in different departments within the company, such as publishing, sales and strategy.
