"Grey literature" is scientific or technical output produced by researchers and practitioners, often housed in agency repositories, and often contains more valuable details than other types of literature. Unlike peer-reviewed literature, Grey literature usually cannot be found in mainstream databases.

According to a 2008 study, most researchers use trial and error in their online searches and are aware that they don’t give comprehensive results. In this webinar, Search strategy expert Dr. Eric Sieverts from the University of Utrecht explains techniques for online literature search, common mistakes and highlights the role the library can play in search improvement. He is joined by Elsevier search masterclass instructor Arthur Eger and Utrecht Ph.D. student Jolijn Trietsch.
